SEEDS

Meditech in Framingham, MA has acquired 10 of my needlefelted SEEDS. They are going to be planted (couldn't resist) in an executive conference room.

The SEEDS series are a group of ten needlefelted sculptures of varying shapes, colors and sizes.  I view them as dormant manifestations of energy collected from hours of stabbing raw wool with a barbed needle.

Subsequent sculptures inspired by this body of work include NUCLEI and a very large new piece whose progress will be posted about soon. The SEEDS series has also been the impetus behind the MARROW series.

Thank you to everyone who has been supportive of me and my work, and a big thank you to Meditech for collecting art by local artists.

Unexpected Treasure

Surprising finds on neighborhood walks. I'm often accused of making a bad walking companion with my eyes obsessively turned downward. Look what they are missing!

Nerve-wracking

A recent addition to my 'Dendrite' series and I couldn't resist the temptation to play with the words!
Created with tarnished copper wire and found fishing rope from Lubec, Maine. Measures approximately 10x13x72 inches.
On its way to TEDx Somerville.
Studio shots with iPhone... Better ones forthcoming.

Hand Held

A recent student's innovative use of needle felting technique.... can you guess what is cradled inside this wooly cocoon? A very touchy feely antidote to an otherwise techy electronic device!

Hive

Aggregates of screen tubes stitched with steel wire that undulate to and from the wall. Organically growing repetitive units or cells. Shadows animating the space. Goal is to assemble many 3-4 square foot modules in relation to each other - resulting in a very large wall installation with flexibility for composition and shape depending on the location. Thinking about changing the arrangement several times during its tenure at the NKG show in June!
